The inaugural Austin Power Electronics Workshop took place on May 30th at the Texas Advanced Computing Center with nearly 100 participants from academia and industry. Symposium presentations were given by Dr. Huang’s students and industry participants covering a wide array of topics around new developments in the field of Wide-Band-Gap Power electronics.
Following the Symposium presentations, attendees were allowed to take part in one of four tours highlighting UT research. These tours included the Texas Advanced Computing Center, the Semiconductor Power Electronics Center (SPEC), the Center for Electromechanics (CEM), along with the Power Semiconductor Device Reliability and Packaging and Fabrication Labs housed in the UT MicroElectronics Building on the UT Pickle Research Campus. Participants got a chance to view Posters on the tour of ongoing research within Dr. Huang’s group. The Symposium event wrapped up with a reception in the UT Commons atrium. Many attendees commented they had never been to an event like the Symposium, and were very pleased with all they experienced.
