Utilizing advanced digital control and power electronics functionalities (voltage regulation, fault ride through, P and Q control etc), the RMS research focuses on studying optimal use of power electronics in future grid where distributed generation, EV, microgrids and energy storage devices are increasing integrated into the distribution power system. Example projects include transformation of the PV system into a PV Synchronous Machine (PVSG), autonomous control of distributed resource in DC or AC microgrids, control of microgrid as a solid state synchronous machine, DC microgrid protection.
